It’s a Blu Ray kind of day!

Monday.  Cyber Monday.  Cue the Bond music.  A day when the fantastic shopping deals are found online.  A day when my obsession is tested, and more than likely, my bank account stressed.  I'm addicted to.....BLU RAYS. 

Sure, blu ray discs have been around awhile now, but not long enough that they've pushed the very popular DVD out of the market place.  When a new movie is released to video, they still make a DVD only version.  If you've ever watched a movie on blu ray, you wonder, like me, why that's the case.  Blu ray discs take full advantage of HD video and audio.  They look as good as a movie can get, and sound the best too.  If you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p....stop reading.

I still remember the first blu ray I ever bought.  The Dark Knight.  Christian Bale.  Heath Ledger.  It's still one of my favorites today.  And that got me started down the road I'm on now.  I'm obsessed with finding my favorite movies on blu ray.  Some are easier to find than others.  Several times a week you can find me at places like Video Games Etc, and Half Price Books browsing their used blu ray sections.  Searching for lost treasures.  My collection now stands at over 50 and growing.

But today is dangerous.  Cyber Monday.  Great deals online on everything, INCLUDING blu rays of your favorite movies!  The new Star Trek for only 8 bucks?  Got it!  The classic western Unforgiven for under 10 dollars?  Got to have it!  Is this a cry for help?  Maybe.  But I'm passionate about film.  I know what I like.  Great cinematography.  Great acting.  Anything by David Fincher.
