Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Continues To Drop
If you need a job, Iowa is a great state to find one. Iowa Officials report that the State's jobless rate for the month of February is down to 3.2%. Last year at this time, the jobless rate was 3.6%. This is the lowest unemployment rate since 2001.
Officials credit Iowa’s financial, trade & transportation, and business service industries in helping lower the unemployment rate. Officials say the financial sector brought in 3,000 additional jobs. The professional and business services added another 4,200 jobs. Education, leisure & hospitality, and the trade & transportation sectors also saw gains in the past year.
However not every area saw a rise in jobs for the state. Iowa’s manufacturing sector dropped 4,000 jobs since February of last year.
Iowa is well below the nation’s unemployment rate. The U.S. unemployment rate for February is at 4.7%, down from 4.9% a year ago at this time.
