A week after the legendary RAGBRAI was canceled for 2020 due to uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, "Iowa's Ride" puts the kickstand down on its debut as well. According to its organizers, the new event's future does not seem as certain as that of its counterpart, who will roll over all plans for this year into 2021.

KCRG reported that the announcement was made in a statement on the Iowa's Ride website Monday night, by director TJ Juskiewicz. Organizers say it was a decision made out of "great concern for the safety of the general public, the townspeople, riders, support drivers, volunteers, the Iowa State Patrol troopers, safety officials and staff". The ride was scheduled July 12-18 and as of now, Juskiewicz says it's too soon to discuss details on the future of his event, according to his statement.

The official statement went on to say "we tried to hold out as long as possible in hopes that the world would begin healing. We also know the reality that the clock was ticking to lock in many requirements to host the ride including insurance, permits and licenses".

Iowa's Ride participants can request a 75 percent refund of their registration now through May 15, by contacting organizers here. Why only 75 percent? Their refund policy states that "fees for ticketing and processing may not be refunded". Proceeds were to go to various charities in the host towns.
