Iowa’s Best Burger Is Competing For The Title Of Ultimate Burger
Iowans have voted, the judges have spoken, and the best burger in Iowa has been chosen. But, that’s not the end of the road for our state winner The Flying Elbow. Their burger is now moving on to a bigger contest, the ultimate Best Burger.
Iowa and New York are at it again, pinning their best burgers against each other. In 2021, Iowa claimed the title, but the question is, will we reclaim the 2022 title.
A month ago, both Iowa and New York announced their best burgers. The selection process in both states is very similar- it starts with a public vote, then gets narrowed down to the final few that a team of judges votes on.
Let’s meat the contestants:
Iowa’s Best Burger is the Tombstone Smashburger from The Flying Elbow in Marshalltown. The burger itself features a blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib, which is fresh, never frozen, and sourced from Midwest cattle. It also contains Wagyu beef, raised by a Marshalltown producer. The winning Tombstone burger toppings consist of Manchego cheese, guacamole, bacon, sour cream, shredded lettuce, tomato, and Death Valley hot sauce on the side.
New York’s Best Burger is the “Holy Smokers Burger” Ale ‘n’ Angus Pub in Syracuse. This burger consists of an 8oz Certified Angus Beef patty topped with smoked beef brisket, pepper jack cheese, house-made seasoned onion straws, and house-made brown sugar BBQ sauce, all on a delicious Pretzel Bun.
So, where is the ultimate Best Burger from? Do we need to go to the city in New York or a small town in Iowa?
You can cast your votes for the ultimate Best Burger online now through June 13th.
