Iowans Try to Spell Michigan Words [VIDEO]

A while back we did a video of our staff trying to spell Iowa words, so I thought it would be fun for some native Iowans to try to spell words from my home state of Michigan. To sum things up...they did not do well.

When I first moved to Iowa, there were a lot of new things I needed to learn, including some Iowa words. Maquoketa (I just double-checked to make sure I spelled that right... I did!) was a tricky one, but other than that there weren't a ton that I was confused about. Growing up in the Detroit area, there were a LOT of tricky words I had to learn, especially because of all the french influence! A lot of words sound NOTHING like they are spelled. I decided to test some Iowans with a few of those tricky words, and here are the results:
