Iowans REALLY Love Their Taco Pizza!

I can't argue with this study!

When it comes to pizza toppings, everybody has their personal favorites. A new study from Zippia attempted to figure out what the top pizza toppings are in each state, and I'm very pleased with the result for Iowa! Before we get to that, though, we need to know where this data came from. The article reads:

"Our cheesy intel on pizza toppings comes from Yelp, who tracked the amount of nationwide pizza orders placed on Yelp and Eat24, then filtered by state."

According to this study, the most popular pizza in Iowa is Taco Pizza. We were actually the only state with taco pizza as the top answer! That makes sense to me, because I think that a lot of states aren't familiar with taco pizza. I'm from Michigan, and I hadn't even heard of it until I moved here in 2014. Now I'm hooked! Cheese was the favorite topping for Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri, in Wisconsin and Nebraska it's BBQ chicken, and South Dakota's top answer was chicken bacon ranch.

Another section of the study took a look at the number of pizza restaurants per capita to figure out which states love pizza the MOST. I was shocked to see that Iowa was ranked number five out of all 50 states, with three pizza restaurants per capita!
