Is there any food more comforting than fried chicken?!

Like most other industries, fast food chains have seen a decrease in sales since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. But, some types of fast food have seen less of a decrease than others! According to a new study from Top Agency:

"Fried chicken restaurants have coped with the pandemic better than other fast food outlets. While visits to fast-food restaurants are down by 23%, fried chicken has only seen a 6% reduction, outperforming burger chains which have experienced a downturn of 15%."

There are quite a few options when it comes to fast food fried chicken, but the most popular of the bunch was KFC. It was the top choice in 14 of the 48 states that were looked at for the study. However, KFC was not the number one choice here in Iowa. Our favorite fried chicken joint is actually Popeyes. KFC was our second choice, while Chick-fil-A came in third.

Some of the top fast food places in other states include Zaxby's, Church's Chicken, Bojangles, and Raising Cane's. The only one of those restaurants with locations in Iowa is Raising Cane's, which plans to open a Cedar Rapids location in the former Ryan's Family Steakhouse in the fall of this year. You can read more about that HERE.

My go-to for fast food fried chicken is usually KFC (I love Famous Bowls), but after trying Vivian's Soul Food here in Cedar Rapids, I don't know if I can go back. Their fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese blow everyone else's out of the water!
