Renovations have been made to Carver-Hawkeye Arena that make it a more state of the art facility. But one thing remains original from the buildings creation in the early 1980's. The scoreboard and sound system. The University of Iowa would like to change that.

The University is seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents for a $3.5 million upgrade to the current system. The Hawkeyes want to install a new LED video board at center court along with other displays, and update the 1980's sound system in the arena.

The school would pay for the project with a loan of up to $5.5 million which it says it will pay back in less than five years.
