Saturday, October 10 marks two months since the derecho slammed eastern Iowa, leaving a widespread path of destruction in its wake.

Cleanup efforts began immediately afterward and will continue for some time with debris and remnants of the powerful storm still visible all over Cedar Rapids.

Amid all the destruction comes the resilience of Iowans ready to repair and rebuild from the ground up.

This Saturday, an impressive group of local musicians and tribute bands will host a music tribute outdoor concert providing derecho relief with proceeds to support the Iowa Giving Crew, a local nonprofit organization that is helping victims still suffering from the storm.

Three area tribute bands, the Fresh Fighters, Superknot, and Black Tooth Grin are scheduled to perform in an outdoor concert at Tailgators Sports Bar, 3969 Center Point Road NE in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, October 10 starting at 5:30 PM.

Organizers received support from local businesses including IJM Sound and Atomic Imprint along with Beast Row Mobile Eatz catering, all providing essential services to accommodate the all-volunteer effort.

Jason Smith and his wife Liz, owners of Beast Row, said the Iowa Giving Crew has done a tremendous job helping many area storm victims and was quick to offer his assistance. They have been very active in helping relief efforts ever since the storm hit.

The concert attendance is limited to those 21 and older and gets underway at 5:30 PM.
