Iowa Teenager Charged with Murdering Another Teen
An eastern Iowa shooting Wednesday afternoon has left one teen dead and another charged with his murder.
According to The Hawk Eye, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 4200 block of Avenue L in Fort Madison at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
When they arrived on the scene, first responders located a male teen in a bedroom inside a home. He had been shot one time. The 15-year-old was transported to the hospital by Lee County EMS. Not long after arriving, the teen was pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
Also at the scene, officers questioned Dimari D.J. Meredith. The 17-year-old, from Fort Madison, was taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with First-Degree Murder.
Unfortunately, there have been numerous other cases of teens being charged with killing other teens this year.
Back in July, 18-year-old Robert Powell-Moore was shot and killed in Dubuque. A 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in that case.
Last week, 18-year-old Daniel Jackson and two 20-year-olds, Tyrone Davis and Taylor Austin were charged in the killing of 19-year-old Cory Elifritz in Des Moines. Elifritz was reportedly stabbed multiple times last Thursday, October 28. The three men are also alleged to have stolen two gaming systems from his home.
