Iowa-Owned Horse Wins Way to Kentucky Derby [VIDEO]
A little-known horse from the state of Iowa took home $600,000 after winning a race in Lexington, Kentucky over the weekend. His next stop is Churchill Downs.
Brody's Cause is owned by Albaugh Family Stables, based in Des Moines. He came from way back to win Saturday's 1 1/8 mile Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. You can see the race below.
The win gives Brody's Cause career earnings of $1,123,138. He's currently fifth in the Kentucky Derby points standings with 114. He won't race again until the most famous race in equine... the Kentucky Derby. It's held May 7 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
Trainer Dale Romans told Horse Racing Nation, “We’re going into the Kentucky Derby (G1) in perfect form. He’s already won on the track, which you know is important at Churchill Downs, and the farther the better.”
