Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds moved her daily press conferences to 11 a.m starting today. where she gave the latest on the COVID-19 outbreak in Iowa. The Governor also ordered the closing of more businesses and public spaces.

Seventy-eight new cases were confirmed in Iowa, where the total positive cases have now reached 946 in 75 of Iowa's 99 counties. An additional three deaths were also reported. An adult between 61 and 80 in Linn County and two elderly adults (81+) in Tama County. COVID-19 has now killed 25 people in Iowa.

The Governor announced that 71 of Linn County's 176 confirmed cases are "directly related to an outbreak in a single long-term care facility."

According to IDPH, the locations and age ranges of the 78 individuals include:

  • Allamakee County, 1 adult (18-40 years)
  • Benton County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Cedar County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Cerro Gordo County, 2 older adults (61-80 years)
  • Chickasaw County, 1 adult (18-40 years)
  • Clinton County, 1 older adult (61-80 years)
  • Crawford County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Dubuque County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Franklin County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Henry County, 1 adult (18-40 years)
  • Jackson County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years)
  • Johnson County, 5 adults (18-40 years), 6 middle-aged adults (41-60 years), 1 older adult (61-80 years)

In her press conference, the Governor also announced the closing of these type of businesses, through April 30. This is in addition to previously-announced closures.

    • Social and Fraternal Clubs, including those at golf courses
    • Bingo Halls, Bowling Alleys, Pool Halls, Arcades, Amusement Parks
    • Museums, Libraries, Aquariums, and Zoos
    • Roller or Ice Skating Rinks and Skate Parks
    • Outdoor and Indoor Playgrounds or Children's Play Center
    • Tobacco or Vaping Stores
    • Race Tracks and Speedway
    • Toy, Gaming, Music, Instrument, Movie, or Adult Entertainment Stores
    • Campgrounds
