Another University of Iowa Team Has Sold Out Its Season
It was only about three weeks ago that we told you the Iowa women's basketball team had sold out their 2023-24 season. They now have company.
The Iowa women will draw, approximately, just shy of 241,000 fans into Carver-Hawkeye Arena if they host 16 home games this season.
Last week, Iowa interim athletic director Beth Goetz announced that over 40,000 tickets have been purchased by fans for the Crossover at Kinnick. That Iowa women's exhibition game against DePaul is scheduled for Sunday, October 15 at 3 p.m. at Kinnick Stadium. If the weather doesn't force the game indoors, it will set the all-time attendance record for a collegiate women's basketball game in the United States.
That 40,000 tickets sold means Kinnick will be more than half-full, but they're not done selling tickets for this game. If the weather forecast looks good that weekend, just watch as thousands more tickets are sold. I already have mine.
If you don't already have tickets to an Iowa football game this season, the October 15 women's basketball exhibition game is your only remaining chance to get inside Kinnick Stadium this fall. That is, unless you buy tickets to an Iowa football game on the secondary market.
The University of Iowa announced today the Illinois game is now sold out, meaning tickets for all seven of Iowa's home football games this season are now gone. That runs Iowa's sellout streak to 14 games, covering the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The last game that didn't sell out was the 2021 home finale against Illinois. The attendance that day was 64,132. The capacity at Kinnick Stadium is 69,250.
