Governor Reynolds Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Soldiers

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags to fly at half-staff until the soldiers killed in action have been laid to rest.

Two Iowa Soldiers Killed in Iranian Drone Attack

KCRG reports that Iowa is honoring 45-year-old Major Jeffery O'Brien of Waukee and 20-year-old Sgt. Declan Coady of West Des Moines. The two are Army Reserve soldiers with the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines and were killed by an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait. KCRG reports that four other soldiers in their unit were also killed. They include:

• Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota
• Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida
• Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska
• Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, 54, of Sacramento

More Soldiers Injured During the Attack

KCRG reports that Iowa Congressman Zach Nunn said that he spoke with the Army Reserve unit, which confirmed nine other soldiers were wounded in the attack and are being treated for their injuries at a U.S. base in Germany.

President Trump has stated that he intends to attend the honorable transfer of the soldiers when they return to the United States, according to KCRG.
