Iowa Brother & Sister Both Charged with 1st-Degree Murder
A sister and brother were arrested following a traffic stop Saturday night and both have now been charged with first-degree murder in the death of an Iowa man.
According to KCRG, 20-year-old Jasmin Bautista, and her brother, 18-year-old Jonathan Bautista were arrested by the West Des Moines Police Department on outstanding warrants Saturday evening.
Jasmin and Jonathan Bautista have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Javier Wilson-Moncada of Des Moines. Moncada was the father of seven children. His obituary says he was born in Honduras.
Wilson-Moncada's body was found the night of Monday, August 30, 2021, near the Des Moines River in Des Moines. KCCI reports he was found near a bike trail, in a wooded area. Sergeant Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department said at the time,
The interaction that ended up with the victim being killed here started somewhere else. So, it doesn't have anything to do with the bike trail. This just happens to be where these two folks ended up.
Des Moines Police are also asking for the public's help identifying the person in the photos at the bottom of this story. Police say he is "believed to be connected to this case".
