Grab your popcorn and ranch because we're having an Iowa marathon, and don't worry no one will be running. There are so many hidden big and small screen gems in the Hawkeye state.

Not only do some big celebrities call this place home, but a few of the most iconic films of the 20th century were actually set here. If you are looking to have an Iowan binge-watch party here are a few recommendations...

1. That 70's Show

We know the show is set in Wisconsin, but Iowa native and actor Ashton Kutcher stars in this hit show. Kutcher has done a lot for his home state in terms of philanthropy, especially during the height of the COVID pandemic. He released a PSA encouraging Iowans to stay home.

You can watch Kutcher play Kelso on That 70's Show on Amazon Prime.

2. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson

Here's Johnny! The original host of NBC's hit late-night talk show The Tonight Show is actually from Iowa as well. While it's tough to find any full episodes of Carson's episodes there are plenty of hilarious clips you can find from old segments on the Johnny Carson YouTube channel. This one might be one of my favorites. Betty White and Johnny were a hilarious duo.

3. Field Of Dreams

If you build it...we will watch it.

One of the greatest films of the 20th century Field Of Dreams was set and shot in Iowa. The majority of filming took place near Dyersville back in the 80s.

You can watch the full movie on Amazon Prime.

4. Black Panther, Infinity War, Endgame

Now, this one you might be scratching your head at. Well, it turns out one of the stars of these movies is originally from Iowa. Danai Gurira, plays the head of Wakandan forces and intel, Okoye. Okoye makes an appearance in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

You can have a mini Marvel marathon on Disney+

5. Walking Dead

Another strange pick, but Danai Gurira also appears in this show. Gurira played Michonne on the zombie television series. The news came out last year that this show will be concluding in 2022.

If you want to watch the series and see the native Iowan, you can check it out on Netflix.

6. American Pickers

Not the most glamorous show, but it is fun to flip the channels and find the program on. This show features two brothers from Iowa road tripping around the United States in search of rare artifacts and vintage treasures that you might have thrown out. Maybe they will show up here in the Cedar Valley one day!

You can stream American Pickers on Peacock or on the History Channel.

7. What's Eating Gilbert Grape

The 90s drama starred two little known actors. I don't know if you've heard of them...Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. These two A-listers starred in this heartbreaking film set in a fictional town in Iowa.

Endora, Iowa is only a click away on Netflix.

8. Star Trek

Star Trek and Iowa...it turns out that Iowa has more in common with the final frontier than you'd think. Riverside, Iowa is the "future birthplace" of Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. The fictional space leader hails from the Hawkeye State.

If you want to see the classic episodes, you can check them out on Netflix, and the latest episodes of the new incarnation can be found on CBS: All Access.
