Here's a strong argument for living in filth: According to a new survey, you'll waste a TON of your life cleaning your home and your bathroom. In fact, Iowans are near the top of the cleaning pile when it comes to scrubbin' the John. So the next time you talk to one of your farmer friends, and they're covered in dust from a long day, just know that they very likely clean up nice, AND keep the areas around them clean, too.

We're on hands and knees cleaning... A LOT!

This study from Mullberry Cleaners claims that you will spend around 120 days of your life doing general cleaning around the house, including 60 days of vacuuming and perhaps the worst of all to clean, we'll spend another 60 cleanings in the bathroom. You'll also spend at least 640 days washing dishes, again this according to Mullberry Cleaners.

Added up, that's 760 total days or about two YEARS of your life. I'd like to revisit the notion that maybe a little grime is okay. Because free time is also amazing.

The survey also found that at least a FEW people have recognized that living in squalor is a way to save precious time.

2% of people go more than a month without cleaning their bathroom

  • 1.7% never clean out their fridge.
  • 4.5% only wash their sheets every few months.
  • And 3% use a towel at least 10 times before they wash it.

So maybe we can all agree to cut back, embrace some filth, and get a lot of really, really good smelling air fresheners to compensate? Mmm, I'm game if you are.
