With the recent departures of players like Tyler Cook, Maishe Daily, and Isiah Moss, the Iowa men's basketball program was hoping to get a shot in the arm from some top players who had entered the transfer portal this offseason. Iowa was in the running for three such players. They did NOT get good news on Tuesday.

Yesterday, D.J Harvey announced that he would be transferring from Notre Dame to Vanderbilt. He had narrowed his choices down to Vandy and Iowa. Harvey averaged just over 10 points as a sophomore for the Irish.

Also Tuesday, reports surfaced that brothers Sam and Joey Hauser, who are both leaving the Marquette basketball program, narrowed their choices of schools down to Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Virginia. Iowa had been in the running until yesterday.

Experts say getting the Hausers to Iowa was a long shot, especially since they're from Wisconsin. Harvey was a better chance since he was AAU teammates with Iowa's Luka Garza. But he chose to play for former NBA star Jerry Stackhouse who takes over the Vanderbilt basketball program.
