The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is optimistic about being able to offer a scaled-back version of many of its events this summer, but according to its website, is not ready to roll out an official calendar of events just yet. One of the big events held each year includes the Balloon Glow and as we await word on its fate, a short drive west in Indianola brings news balloon enthusiasts will love. The National Balloon Classic is on.

Save the dates July 30-August 7 and make plans to attend. Bring your face covering and a blanket or lawn chair and be ready to socially distance as their calendar of events remains in flux as well. They are already ready to book you for a private hot air balloon ride and allow you to view the over 100 balloons that annually launch from this event. According to Only in Your State, morning flights launch at 6:30 a.m., and evening flights launch at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Galena on the Fly is the official balloon ride operator for the National Balloon Classic and says reservations are filling quickly. Call them at 815-777-2747 or visit their website if you'd like to be part of this experience.

Beyond that, they are promising "great family fun and incredible entertainment value await; take in all the sights and sounds such as live music nightly, fabulous food and beverage options, Kids Land activities, fireworks, skydivers, and more!"
