When I saw the picture I knew... I've GOT to try these. Will they become all the rage? We'll have to wait for that to be determined, but a popular Iowa ice cream shop is now selling ice cream nuggets. Oh, and there are several dipping sauces to choose from. No wonder people are so thrilled.

I know you're thinking, 'Ok, there obviously has to be ice cream inside, but what's on the outside?' Here are the specifics:

The insides of those bad boys (which are sold as a 6-pack, by the way) are vanilla bean ice cream. They're then dipped in white chocolate and coated with a mixture of cereals, according to owner Alex Carter. Then, pick your dipping sauce. The three choices are Black Cat Fudge, Cookie Butter, and Sweet and Spicy. The Sweet and Spicy option includes a mixture of strawberry, ginger, and habanero.

Who comes up with an idea like that? Geniuses, that's who. Also known as the owners of Black Cat Ice Cream in Des Moines. Just a couple of days after Christmas they began teasing that a new creation was on its way. On New Year's Day, they announced Ice Cream Nuggets would go on sale the following day. Carter tells me they've "been a big success and have been flying out the door!"

To say the news that Black Cat Ice Cream now has ice cream nuggets has been well-received, would be a gigantic understatement. Here are some of my favorite comments:

The ice cream nuggets even attracted the attention of another business:

According to its website, Black Cat Ice Cream serves "hand-crafted small batch artisanal ice cream. We utilize grass-fed natural dairy and ingredients sourced from local producers to create our one-of-a-kind flavors." They're located at 2511 Cottage Grove Avenue in Iowa's capital city. I think they're going to sell a whole lotta ice cream nuggets.
