
Coop Takes in Some History in Galena, Illinois
My parents used to stop in Galena, Illinois on our summer trips back from Chicago. I never looked forward to those stops when I was a kid. It was hard for me to appreciate the history and the vintage/antique shops that lined Main Street. That has all changed.
I think Galena is a hidden gem in America. Many people in this part of the country are familiar with the town, but it doesn't have much national notoriety. That's fine by me. I'd like to keep it as the Midwest's own little treasure.
I went back up to Galena this past weekend to explore and take in some history. Pictures below:
