A Popular Cedar Rapids Diner Has Reopened at a New Location
A Cedar Rapids restaurant has relocated to a bigger space! Hwy 30 Diner is now open at 1519 6th St SW!
Owner Paul Habhab first opened Hwy 30 Diner at 4330 16th Ave SW in Cedar Rapids back in 2020. The restaurant specializes in "traditional, scratch-made American breakfast & lunch" and has consistently high ratings! It currently has 4.8-stars on Facebook and 4.7-stars on Google.
Hwy 30 Diner is now located at the corner of 16th Avenue and 6th Street SW in the former Hardee's building across from the Hy-Vee Drugstore. I reached out to the restaurant on Facebook and they said that their current "soft opening" hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., but that may change once they get their alcohol license.
The new Hwy 30 Diner has only been open a few days, but a Facebook post from Kathleen Duggan Bullock on the Cedar Rapids Area Foodies page says it has the "same great food, same great wait staff, and great atmosphere!!" Popular items to order on DoorDash include biscuits & gravy, pancakes, the Diner Burger, country-fried steak, the traditional gyro, and something called the 'Pile Up,' which is a "skillet with 2 eggs your way, cheddar jack cheese, and choice of hash browns or highway fries." The last time I visited I had the corned beef hash, and it was DELICIOUS!
