Hawkeye Downs Offering Dogs Some Indoor Fun
Our recent little snow events serve as a reminder that fall won't be around long. Soon it will be replaced by the cold grasp of winter. And while many people enjoy getting outdoors for some winter activities, your dog might have other ideas. Sure, some breeds are built for the snow and cold weather. But I know my dog Rigby doesn't like going outside when it gets cold. He does his business in the back yard and zips right back towards the house. If your dog has similar feelings about winter, Hawkeye Downs has an indoor option you and your dog might enjoy.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Hawkeye Downs Expo Center will be hosting an indoor off-leash dog park this winter. It will be held on select Wednesday nights through the month of March. Officials say the expo center is the perfect location and allows for plenty of social distancing.
Dates for the climate controlled indoor dog park at Hawkeye Downs are as follows.
- November 4th
- November 18th
- December 2nd
- December 16th
- January 6th
- January 20th
- February 3rd
- February 24th
- March 10th
The cost will be $5 per dog with their owners getting in for free! There will also be a mini vendor market located in the North Expo Hall filled with local vendors. Dog owners will be asked to wear a mask to the event. Hand sanitizing stations and pet cleanup stations will also be made available.
