Due to the pandemic, there will be no Halloween ball, or Halloween parade in Cedar Rapids. However, the folks at Hawkeye Downs are planning a fun night activities for the whole family! It will feature not one, but TWO films shown on a drive in movie screen!

'A Haunting on Hawkeye Downs' will be held on Saturday, October 24th. The night will feature two films on the big screen, with other fun activities planned throughout the evening too! You can sit in your car and watch the movies, or bring a lawn chair or blanket. Lawn seating will be available. Now, what two movies will be shown that night? The first is a Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus!

The second film features Hugh Jackman as vampire hunter Van Helsing!

Gates will open that night at 5:30 p.m. The first movie will begin at 7 p.m. After Hocus Pocus wraps up stick around for some fun games and activities, with plenty of prizes to be handed out! The second movie will begin at around 9 p.m. Awards will be handed out for the best alien/spaceship themed vehicle, best kids costume, most creative family costume, best superhero, and best villain.

A reminder that this will be a COVID-19 regulated event. Everyone attending must wear a mask, and social distancing will be required. The event is free, but a $10 donation is suggested. All of the money raised will go to the Derecho Relief Fund. So dress up the family, the car, and get ready for some Halloween fun on October 24th!
