Have a Field Day at Jones Park on April 24
Communities are seeing more of their residents get vaccinated and the long cooped-up quarantines are coming slowly to an end. Get reacquainted with your neighbors with an event that offers a chance for playtime, to get out of the house, and get some fresh air and exercise, and free food.
A free public event from the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department is coming soon that will feel like a good old-fashioned neighborhood block party with fun and games to test your skills and enjoy an afternoon outside.
Jones Park in Cedar Rapids will host a "field day" on April 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be held at the Jones Park Lagoon Pavilion at 201 Wilson Ave. SW. Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation, along with the "Leaders Believers Achievers" Foundation, invite you for basketball contests, football skills, and challenges, kickball, art projects, fishing, even a TikTok station.
There will also be scavenger hunts followed by a barbecue with free food provided by Hy-Vee to wrap up the festivities. All in the community are welcome. The mission of Leaders Believers Achievers, according to their Facebook page, is simple: "inspire hope in tomorrow’s Leaders, Believers, and Achievers."
Did we mention it's FREE? Just like our free mobile app, which you can download anytime to be listening for those code words, and a chance to win up to $10,000 with the "Cash Cow." Download it for free HERE.
We don't know much more information about the event than this, and COVID-19 protocols are not mentioned.
