Great Jones County Fair Opening Acts Have Gone On To Stardom [VIDEOS]
This morning, we gave you the big news on the opening acts for the Thursday and Friday night shows at the Great Jones County Fair this summer. Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen get the call this year. Can they achieve the incredible success of other recent openers? Time will tell, but they're both off to great starts.
Luke Combs will open for Jason Aldean Thursday, July 19. He's already hit the top of country music's charts two different times with these hits:
He just released his third single, which you can hear here. It also has "Hit" written all over it.
Morgan Wallen was hand-picked by Luke Bryan to open his Friday, July 20 show in Monticello and many other stops on his tour. When your first hit features Florida Georgia Line, you're definitely doing something right.
Now, let's trace the success of some other opening acts in Monticello from the past several years.
2011: Chris Young opens for Jason Aldean. These days, Chris has eight number one songs and is on a headlining tour that visits Cedar Rapids next month. His latest single, Losing Sleep, is in the top five on the country charts.
2012: Thomas Rhett graced the stage prior to Toby Keith, with only one minor hit at the time. Less than six years later he has nine number one songs (soon to be ten) and is one of the hottest artists in music, period. 'Marry Me' currently resides in country music's Top Ten.
2013: Dustin Lynch hit the stage as part of a huge show that also featured Little Big Town and Keith Urban. Fast forward less than five years and Dustin has a streak of five consecutive number one songs, including his most recent smash, 'Small Town' Boy.' It spent four weeks at number one, his longest streak at the top of the charts.
2016: Cole Swindell hit the stage ahead of Florida Georgia Line. He's now seven singles into a career that's featured every single making number one or number two. S-o-l-i-d. Cole is headlining his first tour in 2018. He's an artist that's just as successful with emotional songs ('You Should Be Here') and fun ones, like this smash with Dierks Bentley.
Where will the careers of Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen be in five years? We can't wait to find out, and we're thrilled we get to see them in Monticello this summer. Years later we may all look back and tell our friends, we saw them when... Are you as ready for summer and Great Jones County Fair fun as we are?!
