The little town of Dyersville, Iowa is getting more national exposure related to the first-ever regular-season Major League Baseball game to be played in the state of Iowa.  Good Morning America has announced plans to broadcast live between 6 am and 9 am on Wednesday, August 11th, one day prior to the big game.

We've known since last year the Major League Baseball was coming to Dyersville.  The game between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees was originally scheduled in 2020, but due to COVID-19 concerns, the game was postponed to this year on Thursday, August 12th.

A temporary 8,000 seat stadium has been constructed near the Field of Dreams Movie Site.

Those that were lucky enough to purchase tickets to this game (a lottery was held for Iowa residents), had to shell out nearly $400 per ticket.  Earlier this week, a single ticket in left field was listed on StubHub at $12,500.

There are several other events planned around the game including Beyond the Game, an Iowa baseball experience.

The schedule of events includes a country music concert on Wednesday, August 11 at Commercial Club Park. The concert features up-and-coming country artists including Shy Carter at 7 pm followed by Ingrid Andress at 8:30 pm. At 10 pm, headliners Maddie & Tae will wrap up the evening’s entertainment. Regional bands will perform both August 11 & 12 at City Square.

A viewing party of MLB at the Field of Dreams will take place at City Square, Thursday, August 12 where attendees can watch the inaugural game between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. The event is open to the public, free to attend, and starts at 6 pm followed by the first pitch at 6:20 pm. Learn more HERE.
