What Ridiculous Thing is Your Pet Afraid Of? Iowans Share Their Stories

Well, after about six weeks, I have finally given up!

My dog Tater is quite a character. He's absolutely obsessed with socks, loves to eat flies, barks at literally every single animal that comes across the TV (and bikes for some reason?), and screams every time he yawns. These past few weeks, I have discovered another weird trait about Tater... he's afraid of BUBBLES.

Since it's getting warmer and Tater likes to spend time outside in the yard, he's been drinking a lot more water. I decided to make my life a little bit easier by purchasing a water bowl that automatically refills, that way I wouldn't have to fill up the bowl so much. Unfortunately, this decision ended up making my life much more difficult.

When the bowl refills with water from the jug, it makes a little bubbling noise. No big deal to me, but to Tater? It's apparently the scariest sound in the world. I kept hoping he would get used to it. I tried easing him into drinking from the new bowl, bribing him with treats, comforting him while he's drinking... nothing worked. Instead, I've had to listen to him whine and whine while he sits in front of the bowl staring at me, waiting for me to come over and pet him while he timidly drinks from the bowl. Instead of filling up the water bowl a couple of times a day, I now have to PROTECT HIM FROM THE BUBBLES EVERY SINGLE TIME HE WANTS A SIP OF WATER. I've finally given up and gone back to a standard water bowl. The bubbles officially won.
