A Cedar Rapids tradition continues with perfect weather. The 28th "Balloon Glow" will be held this evening on the grounds of the historic Brucemore Mansion at 2160 Linden Dr. SE in Cedar Rapids.

Tonight's weather should be perfect with clear skies forecast along with winds under 10 miles-per-hour. CBS 2 expects a temperature around 80 degrees when the event begins at 6 p.m.

Gates open at 5:30 and the festivities begin a half-hour later (continuing until 10 p.m.), with live music from the Pork Tornadoes. You'll hear everything from Taylor Swift to AC/DC and Gavin Degraw during their performance. Five hot air balloons are also expected to be on the lawn tonight and will light up the sky later in the evening.

Admission is free with a Freedom Festival button, which is available at the gate for five dollars. Kids eight and under are admitted free.

Local vendors will be on site with food available, and Cedar Ridge Winery in Swisher will have wine available. Soft-sided coolers ARE allowed, but ABSOLUTELY NO PETS.

Area streets will fill with vehicles quickly, but there is shuttle service available. Shuttles will pick up and drop off in the parking lot at Washington High School and the 35th Street NE Rockwell parking lot. The Freedom Festival website says shuttles will run from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

It's going to be a beautiful night to enjoy the great outdoors with a whole lot of other people from eastern Iowa at this terrific family event.
