A longtime eastern Iowa auto dealer is reeling today after thieves broke into the dealership and stole four vehicles overnight.

Jim Baier, Inc. in Fort Madison, in Lee County in southeast Iowa, had four vehicles stolen sometime last night. According to a post on the Facebook page of the dealership, as of late this morning, they were still auditing inventory. However, the four vehicles pictured in this story were all stolen.

The Charger was one of only 501 that was produced. KBUR reports the two vehicles have a combined value of $131,000.

According to KHQA, the thieves got into the service area by breaking a window. Once inside, they stole the two vehicles from the showroom. A black 2019 Dodge Challenger and white 2015 Dodge Challenger, both pictured below, were also stolen. Those vehicles were taken off the sales lot. Four dealer plates were also snatched.

There were no alarms for the showroom at the dealership, which has been in business since 1971. Comments by the dealership on their Facebook page indicate video surveillance has been turned over to the authorities.

Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff told the Pen City Current he believes the robbery was the work of a professional ring that's been hitting locations in the central part of the U.S.

If you see any of these vehicles, please call the Fort Madison Police Department at 319-372-2525.
