Four Hawkeyes Named To Pre-Season All American List
How do you know we're getting closer to college football season? We're getting into pre-season list mode! Yesterday, four Iowa Hawkeyes were named to a pre-season All-American list.
247Sports reports that Athlon Sports named Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell and corner Riley Moss to their first-team All-American list. Both Campbell and Moss are seniors at Iowa. In addition, junior Hawkeye punter Tory Taylor was a second-team choice while senior tight end Sam LaPorta was a fourth-team selection.
Campbell was a second-team All-American in 2021. He was also voted first-team All-Big Ten and was second in the conference in tackles with 143, the fifth-highest total in Iowa history, according to 247Sports. Moss was also a first-team All-American last season and was also named the Tatum-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year. He is second all-time in interception return yards and is one of only three Hawkeyes in history with three interception returns for a touchdown.
The Hawkeyes open up the season on September 3rd against South Dakota State before they host Iowa State for the Cy-Hawk game on September 10th. Iowa wraps up the non-conference schedule at home against Nevada. GO HAWKS!
