In 2018, an Iowa Taco Bell employee sued the company for wage theft. Four years later, the U.S. Supreme Court decided she was right.

The Des Moines Register reports that Robyn Morgan's lawsuit had been tied up for years over the question of whether the company waited too long to invoke a clause mandating private arbitration of the case. The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court holds that the lower courts wrongly ruled in the company's favor.

Morgan accused Sundance Inc. of telling her and other employees at the Osceola, Iowa Taco Bell store to work off the clock, cheating them out of overtime hours according to the Register. Her class-action lawsuit alleges that the actions were company policy. She is seeking repayment for herself and workers at Sundance's nearly 150 other locations around the United States. The company has 16 locations in the state of Iowa. Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller called it a win for workers.
