Former Iowa Governor Dies
According to CBS2, "Former Iowa Governor Robert D.Ray, who helped thousands of Vietnam War refugees relocate to the state and defined Iowa's GOP politics for years, has died."
The former Iowa Governor was loved and respected across party lines. He was 89 when he passed away over the weekend. His death was due to complications from Parkinson's disease.
Robert Ray was first elected Governor in 1968. He went on to lead the state of Iowa for 14 years. He later served a short term as Des Moines mayor and then as President at Drake University.
