We've all recieved a rebate check, or some other check and wished we could add a few more zeros to it.  But we don't, because it's illegal and most banks probably wouldn't fall for it.  But one bank DID!

The National Bank of Australia issued at $20 rebate check to Grahame Bell.  Bell decided he wanted a bit more that $20, so he added a few zeros...$20 million worth of zeros!  Did the bank catch it?  Amazingly, no.  The $20 million check actually CLEARED. However, bank employees eventually questioned the transaction, and the money was returned.  Mr. Bell was sentenced on fraud charges this week.
