One of the highlights of my summer is working with the Boys and Girls Club on their Annual Fish-O-Rama event.  Maybe you were there this year (as it seemed everyone and their cousin was), or maybe you've gone previous years.  It's just a great couple days of fishing for cool prizes, with awesome family memories.  This year, a new milestone was hit.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Rapids let us know earlier this week that they had an amazing weekend this past year.  With how perfect the weather was, it's no surprise they had record attendance, making this 12th year their most successful event in history.  Just short of 1,450 came out raising over $160,000 for area kids.  Considering this is one of the club's largest fundraisers, that a great thing!  It'll enable the club to continue to provide a variety of programs for the 300 youth who attend daily.

We appreciate the support of all of our event sponsors as well as the community members, especially those who come every year to fish with family and friends, and support our community's youth.  ~ John Tursi, Executive Director

The only downfall was that the "truck" fish was never caught, so no one got to drive home in the new Toyota Tundra.  Guess that sucker was too well fed to head towards the bait. However, lots of kids bikes, TVs, restaurant certificates, and more were given away.  We congratulate the Boys and Girls Club, and encourage you to join us for the 13th Annual event next year!
