When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a building that was fully engulfed in flames. In a media release, it was described as a non-residential structure. Even though it was believed a person might be inside, conditions didn't allow firefighters to enter the building. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department also says a high level of debris was inside the structure. After several minutes, rescue teams were able to go inside.
