I have written numerous times about how the movie 'Field of Dreams' is one of my all-time favorite movies. The Kevin Costner movie isn't just a film about baseball, although the sport is at the core of the story. No, 'Field of Dreams' is about magic, taking chances, and redemption. Now the movie is being recognized in a whole new way.

The movie has officially been added to The National Film Registry. It means that Congress will help honor and preserve the movie. To be on the list, a film must be "at least 10 years old and be culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant within American film heritage." Not bad for a movie filmed in Dyersville, right?

Iowa should be proud. I know I tell visitors that they need to visit the movie site if they've never been before. Play a game of catch with your dad or grandfather. Experience the magic for yourself.
