[Updated] One Person Killed in Linn County Crash Monday Night
A late-evening accident in rural Linn County Monday night killed one person.
[Update Tuesday, October 18, 1:15 p.m.] The victim in Monday evening's crash has been identified as 60-year-old Timothy M. Hildenbrand of Cedar Rapids.
[Original story] According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident near the corner of Highway 30 and Linn Benton Road just after 11:15 Monday night.
When deputies, along with the Iowa State Patrol, Atkins Fire Department, and Area Ambulance arrived on the scene, they found a Ford F-150 had been going east on Highway 30 when it entered the median, crossing over the westbound lanes. The pickup then hit a grain bin on the north side of the road, before coming to a stop. The driver was the only person inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver's identity has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the accident.
Eastern Iowa Man Killed in Farm Accident
Thursday, October 13, a farming accident near Hopkinton claimed the life of 68-year-old Randall Wulfekuhle. He was caught in a grain bagger that he was operating when his clothing became caught in the drive shaft. Two visitations are being held for Mr. Wulfekuhle later this week in Manchester.
