A New Restaurant with a Big Menu Has Opened in Cedar Rapids

Add another restaurant to the list of locally-owned places in Cedar Rapids.

Last spring, the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance revealed that nearly two of every three restaurants in the Cedar Rapids area were locally owned. While I don't have concrete evidence to prove the percentage (actually 62 percent at that time) has gone up, I don't think there's any doubt it has.

We're constantly telling you about new places that have opened, and almost all of them have local people behind them. Today, I have word on a new restaurant that opened in downtown Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, May 3. It's called El Dorado Bar & Grill.

Let there be no mistake that El Dorado Bar & Grill is a Mexican restaurant. Their Facebook page describes the place as a "Fresh new authentic Mexican Bar and Grill, filled with vibrant new drinks and Mexican dishes." Let's start with a look at the drink menu:

There are also a whole lotta beer options, along with Pepsi products.

Of course, you have to have nachos and dips.

And finally, the meat of the menu... the food. There's plenty to choose from.

You'll find El Dorado Bar & Grill just a few steps from 1st Avenue in downtown Cedar Rapids. It's located at 112 2nd St. SE and is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
