Eastern Iowa Man Wins Millions In Powerball
I'd like to introduce you to my new best friend, Anton Garrett. Garrett is a nice guy, he dresses well, and he just so happens to be the latest eastern Iowan to win with the Iowa Lottery.
The Waterloo resident bought five Powerball plays on only one ticket. He ended up winning $2,000,021 from this investment. Doesn't that seem like an odd cash prize number?
Well, he ended up winning twice on one ticket. Twenty-one on one play and two million on another.
"I always dreamed I would win," Garrett said on Monday when he went to claim his prize at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. "It's something I could just see."
The Tyson Foods forklift operator picked his own numbers which were a combination of several of his most different important dates. He bought his winning ticket from New Star Liquor at 1625 W. Fourth St. in Waterloo.
Garrett was the only player in the entire country to win $2 million.
"The machine started spitting out all this paper," Garrett said. "The clerk said, 'What's all this?' Then he read it and said, 'I think you won $2 million!'"
This weekend's winning numbers were 12-17-20-21-26 and Powerball 8. The Power Play number was 3. Garrett's big prize is the second-largest Powerball win of the year so far.
Just this morning we had no clue who this extremely lucky winner was...and we were all double-checking our own ticket to see if we were Iowa's newest millionaire...and just maybe my new best friend?
