Eastern Iowa City Offering Weekly Indoor Dog Park
Winter can be a tough time to get some exercise in, for both humans AND dogs. One Iowa city is trying to help our four-legged friends with an indoor dog park.
The Five Flags Center in Dubuque offers what the call 'Wags at the Flags' every Wednesday. Dogs can come into the center and take advantage of the indoor facilities to play, run, and explore. The cost to come in and play is just $4 per dog. Organizers say that they're averaging well over 100 dogs per Wednesday. The money goes to cover building costs and also benefits the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.
Organizers say they looked at the building schedule over the winter months and noticed that Wednesdays were hardly ever booked. Officials thought if they could host a circus or monster trucks, dogs would be just fine too.
'Wags in the Flags' takes place on Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
