Travel is down due to the Coronavirus pandemic, including through the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids. In fact, according to the Gazette, they saw a 44.4 percent drop in March, which is usually their busiest month.

Yesterday, Governor Reynolds began loosening restrictions in 77 of Iowa's 99 counties, but several in the eastern half of the state were not among them. So what happens once things are opened back up enough for residents to travel more frequently through CID?

The airport wants to know from travelers themselves. Airport director Marty Lenss told The Gazette that they are in the "very early stages" of formulating questions to create a survey for their customers and passengers. It will give them a voice in how the airport handles safety measures going forward in the wake of COVID-19.

One of the steps they've already taken, according to Lenss, is to purchase foggers that will safely spray and hold a hospital-quality sanitizing solution to all airport surfaces.
