There are plenty of great restaurants in the Cedar Rapids area, but don't forget about all the restaurants on wheels!

With summer on the way, outdoor events are becoming more and more prevalent here in Eastern Iowa. A lot of those outdoor events will feature delicious food from local food trucks. In addition to all the fairs, festivals, and concerts, there's also an event each Tuesday afternoon at NewBo City Market where you'll be able to try some of these delicious mobile restaurants. Food Truck Tuesdays happen through August from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I took to Facebook today to ask Eastern Iowans about their favorite food trucks in the area, and there were a LOT of responses. Here are a few of them:

  • O's Grill
    • Featuring gyros, hummus, salad, falafel, baklava, and more
  • Island Vybz
    • Featuring jerk chicken/pork, sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, wraps, and more
  • Comfort Food 154
    • Featuring mac & cheese, sandwiches, meatloaf, stew, scalloped potatoes & ham, beef/chicken & noodles, dessert, and more
  • Caribbean Kitchen
    • Featuring rice bowls, tacos, jerk chicken, ribs, wings, sandwiches, smoothies, and more
  • One More Bite
    • Featuring wings, burgers, chicken tenders, wraps, sandwiches, and more
  • Boulevard Grill
    • Featuring burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and more
  • Amos Dean's
    • Featuring tacos, sandwiches, wraps, and more

Oh, and if you're in the mood for fair food, Americana Concessions is parked out in front of Lindale Mall on the Collins Road side. They officially open today and are offering all sorts of fair favorites like funnel cake, deep-fried Twinkies, foot-long corndogs, nachos, and more. I stopped by last summer for cheese fries and a deep-fried brat on a stick and it was everything I had hoped for! The owner told me that, starting next week, they are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be located there until at least the end of May.
