Courtlin’s Restaurant Bucket List – January [PHOTOS]
One restaurant down, 11 more to go!
Last week I was assessing my life and making resolutions for 2017, and I decided to make a "fun" resolution. One of my favorite things to do is go out to eat, because I love food and I REALLY love not having to cook. Instead of taking the joy of going out to eat away from myself, like your typical resolution, I decided to go in a different direction. I want to try 12 Iowa restaurants that I've never tried before in 2017. Thanks to listener suggestions, as of right now I have more than 12 restaurants on my list, so I have plenty of choices!
For month one I decided to go for a restaurant that's close by, right over in Marion. I took a trip over to QDogs BBQ Company on Friday with a big group of my radio station coworkers. Lots of people meant that I got to try a TON of stuff, including cheese curds, fried green beans, and some sort of fried buffalo chicken dip appetizer that was absolutely INSANE. So stinkin' good. For myself, though, I started off with something that I knew I was going to order before I got there: Pulled Pork Nachos.
For my meal, I ordered chicken, fries, cheesy potatoes, and cornbread, which I had to take home with me because it was SO MUCH FOOD (I blame the nachos).
Overall, everybody at the table had a great experience. Almost all of us ordered something different, and nobody left dissatisfied. Plus, the service was excellent! QDogs was a great restaurant to start off the year, and I'm looking forward to February!
