Courtlin’s Resolution Movie List — Week 44
The last movie I watched was a bit of a sappy one, so this past week I went with a movie that is the total opposite. Lots of action with a side of Bruce Willis!
This movie is basically the epitome of "manly:" Bruce Willis running around barefoot, causing mayhem, smoking cigarettes, and shooting machine guns. And of COURSE he gets the girl in the end. It's the ultimate action movie.
In the beginning when we first saw Hans (the bad guy) I thought to myself, "Hmmm, that guy sure looks a LOT like Alan Rickman." Then he opened his mouth and I said, "Yep, that's definitely Alan Rickman!" Professor Snape sure makes a good bad guy!
"Die Hard" felt so long and drawn out to me. Not that I didn't like it, but after an hour and half I found myself wondering how much more they could possibly squeeze into it. I started to get antsy by the end. It was definitely cheesy and over-the-top, but that's what made it so entertaining. When John said, "Yippee ki-yay, m***********s" I actually laughed out loud. My other favorite line is when he gets a hold of the radio and is trying to call for help and the woman says the line is for emergencies only and he responds with, "no f****** s***, lady. Does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza?" I love how much of a cocky jerk Bruce's character is. It makes it more fun to root for him. Also, the cops in this movie are all total morons. I'd put my trust in John McClain. And why did those reporters not get in trouble for revealing all that personal information during a terrorist threat?! I was so angry!
I never understood the joke when people said, "Die Hard is my favorite Christmas movie," but I understand it now! If you have any other classic movie suggestions for me, feel free to leave them in the comments!
