Courtlin’s Resolution Movie List — Week 42
I'm a few days late, but I FINALLY watched another movie from my movie list for last week, and I went with something a little creepy in honor of Halloween!
Brain has been pushing me to watch this movie since day one, but I've kind of been putting it off, because I thought it would be a horror movie. I was happy to discover that this movie wasn't really scary, it was more of a suspense/mystery flick. It kind of reminded me of Silence of the Lambs. That being said, I think Kevin Spacey would make a GREAT Hannibal Lecter. He's phenomenal at playing creepy bad guys.
Morgan Freeman was, like always, phenomenal in this movie. I loved him, I loved his character; he was perfect. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, I could not STAND. His acting was great, I just hated his character. He was so loud and angry and cocky. It drove me nuts. Kevin Spacey stole the show, though. I know he wasn't in the movie very long, but he totally nailed that part.
As far as the movie goes, I thought it was incredibly well done. The visuals were just stunning. Each victim and each crime scene was so detailed, it felt almost real. The crime scene for sloth with all of the air fresheners hanging from the ceiling was insane. I love movies that make you think and try to figure out what 's going on. It was a good psychological thriller.
Unfortunately, I knew what was in the box before I actually saw the scene. I would like to say it's because I'm super smart and figured it out, but it's actually because Brain ruined it for me weeks ago. There are other parts that I was able to figure out before they happened, though. Like when they were on the crime scene for "greed," and they found the fingerprints behind the painting. I'm smarter than Brad Pitt's character, obviously, because I knew that those couldn't be the killer's fingerprints. Why would he go through the process of revealing his own identity that early on? Come on, Kevin Spacey is smarter than that. I also love how the whole '7 deadly sins' thing played out with envy and rage at the very end, but I'm so mad that Brad killed him and let him win. He's the worst.
Next week I'll be watching something a little less gruesome, so feel free to leave some suggestions for me below!
