Comey Testimony Could Rival ‘March Madness’ Work Viewing
Today is shaping up to be a political spectacle like few of us have ever seen. Former FBI Director James Comey will testify before Congress today. I'm not going to focus on any of the political ramifications that could come from today's testimony. I'm fascinated by the huge TV draw that this has become. Every major news network will be airing the testimony live. Good luck getting any work done later this morning!
Experts say that today could actually rival March Madness as far as a lack of worker productivity goes. There are viewing parties being planned at bars and restaurants across the country. Employees are placing wagers on what Comey may or may not reveal. It truly is like a sporting event! Call your bookie!
Comey's testimony will begin at 8 a.m. Iowa time. That could make it difficult for managers to have the full attention of their employees for the entire work day. So will the event live up to the hype? I have a feeling that many of us might feel a little let down by what we see. Many people are expecting some sort of bombshell revelation or a 'smoking gun'. I doubt we get that today. But it still makes for riveting theater!
