My favorite movies are back up on the big screen!

Many movie theaters across the country haven't reopened yet, but the ones that have are dealing with a weird issue; there aren't really any new movies coming out right now. So, what do you do when there aren't a ton of new films to show? You show the classics, of course!

It was brought to my attention this weekend that Collins Road Theatres in Cedar Rapids has officially begun a Harry Potter Marathon. The eight movie event kicked off last week with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and will run through the week of September 4th, ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. This week the featured movie is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and the last day for that showing is tomorrow, Thursday, July 30th.

According to the Collins Road Theatres website, each movie will begin showing on a Friday and then run through the following Thursday. Here is the schedule for the rest of the movies:

  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Begins July 31st
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Begins August 7th
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Begins August 14th
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Begins August 21st
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 - Begins August 28th
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - Begins September 4th

It appears that each movie is shown twice on weekdays and three times on Saturdays and Sundays. The tickets are only $5 a person and you can purchase them in advance by clicking HERE.

Collins Road Theatres does have social distancing guidelines in place right now. You can read more about those HERE.
