Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Season Suspended Due to Coronavirus
The United States Hockey League (USHL), governing body of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Waterloo Blackhawks, has put the season on ice, at least for now. They announced Thursday that due to coronavirus concerns, their season has been suspended until further notice.
This includes all hockey activities and operations, including games, practices, workouts and meetings being suspended until further notice, according to a statement on the RoughRiders website. The statement also reads:
We continue to closely monitor the situation and will use the hiatus to consider the next steps in the 2019-20 USHL season.
Coronavirus, or COVID-19, is shutting numerous events down, as just today it was also announced that several conference basketball tournaments, including the Big Ten tournament, which was scheduled to feature a game between Iowa and Minnesota this afternoon that was scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m.
