The movie that made Prince an icon is being shown again in theaters across the nation. 'Purple Rain' is being shown in select AMC and Carmike Theaters. The film starring the late pop star, was originally released in 1984 and earned Prince an Academy Award for Best Original song score. The soundtrack is regarded as one of the best of all time.

AMC theaters will be showing the film through April 27th. Carmike Theaters is also screening the movie, including at three Iowa locations. The Wynnsong 12 in Cedar Rapids, Wynnsong 16 in Des Moines, and The Southern Hills 12 in Sioux City are all playing 'Purple Rain'. You can get showtimes in Cedar Rapids HERE.

Prince died at the age of 57 last Thursday at his residence in Minneapolis.
